What a refinery does that in-home cleaning cannot
Cleaning a rug where it lies has real limits. There is only so much water you can use on a floor inside an apartment, no way to rinse a rug through, and no way to dry heavy wool before it turns musty. A refinery solves all of that. Your rug is inspected and its dyes tested first, then it is dusted, washed by hand with gentle solutions matched to the fiber, rinsed until the water runs clear, dried in a controlled space with air moving through it, and groomed before it comes home. Space, water, and proper drying are what a rug needs, and a workshop has them where a hallway does not.
The dusting step nobody sees
Here is the part that surprises people most. Most of what a rug holds is not surface staining, it is dry grit worked down into the foundation over years of footsteps, and a large room-size rug can hide several pounds of it.
